Patrick Heeley rode Chocolatey to finish third in the NSBA Open 2 Year Old Western Pleasure on Sunday, August 19 at the Reichert Celebration in Tulsa. Heeley also won a new ride in the lucky draw prize – the new scooter, from USA Embroidery/Scooter City (represented in the photo by Wendy Banks).

Thanks to USA Embroidery (official supplier of Reichert Celebration logoed apparel) and Scooter City for their donation of this great scooter!

Vital Win

Keith Whistle lopes Invest N Vital Signs forward as the Glover Family stands in appreciation of their performance as they won the Equine Sports Medicine $250,000 Two Year Old Western Pleasure Challenge Premiere Signature Class Saturday evening at the Reichert Celebration in Tulsa.

Invest N Vital Signs, by Vested Pine out of Vital Signs Are Good, is owned by James and Debbie Glover, trained by Shirley Roth and was presented in the main event by Keith Whistle, to win the $100,000 first place check, the “Excellence In Motion” bronze by Jodi Finkenbinder and the custom trophy buckle – as well as the admiration of the crowd for his ride.

Not bad for his first show.

“Keith did an amazing job, the competition was tough tonight,” said Kristen Glover in the interview following the awards presentation. When asked if her parents had a spot in the house for the beautiful trophy, Kristen giggled “I think we can find one.”

Final Touches

Dona Ellerbroek, wife/groom puts the final touches on Tru Ghiradelli as they prepare for the start of the Elite Halter Classic Mares Class on Friday, August 17 at the Reichert Celebration in Tulsa.

 Wade Ellerbroek showed the yearling filly to finish 7th place and earned a check for $6,500. This is Ellerbroek’s first time showing at the Reichert Celebration and first time to enter the Elite Halter Classic. He takes great pride in the fact that he fit and showed his own horse.

Ellerbroek will also be showing Tru Skips Shooter in the Elite Halter Classic Stallions/Geldings on Sunday.

Keeping Cool

Troy Compton catches some rest in front of a Port-A-Cool this afternoon before the big class tonight – the Equine Sports Medicine $250,000 Two Year Old Western Pleasure Challenge Premiere Signature Class – which is the highlight of the Celebration this week.

 Troy will be showing Lending Wisely for owner Angie Rigdon tonight. Angie and Troy have already struck gold teaming up with Impulse Fund. Troy coaches Angie with her showing and training. Impulse Fund earned $13,000 in the Sundowner Intermediate 2 Yr Old Western Pleasure Premiere Signature Class on Wednesday with Leslie Lange exhibiting.

 Angie was in the saddle for the Adurel Non Pro 2 Yr Old Western Pleasure Premiere Signature Class on Thursday with Impulse Fund, bringing home the gorgeous Jodi Finkenbinder bronze, Excellence In Motion, and the custom buckle – oh yeah, and a check for $13,000.

Backwards Birkenholtz

Kelly Birkenholtz outsprinted the competition this morning in a backwards race to win the Blue Ribbon custom tooled western saddle at the Reichert Celebration in Tulsa.

Birthday Surprise

Nancy Wilkerson found her birthday surprise at her table following the Ann Call Benefit Hat Auction last night at the Reichert Celebration. Her parents, Stanley and Susan Scott, planned the surprise with the Boston Terrier puppy but Nancy was busy bidding on hats in the benefit auction for a while. When she returned to her table – wearing her hat purchase – she found the puppy – who, as you can see, thrilled her! Happy Birthday Nancy!

Yearling Stakes Sale Today

rc07web-yearlingroundpen.jpgThe Reichert Yearling Stakes Sale is going on now, with approximately 240 yearlings to be sold in the Time To Zip It Up Arena. These horses will be eliglible to return to the Reichert Celebration next year to compete for $200,000 estimated purse in the Reichert Sale Stakes Classes and the Sundowner and Adurel Premiere Signature Classes as two year olds.
